A Peruvian artist who has made a decisive contribution to solidifying the presence of Amazonian aesthetics and values in the national cultural scene. Christian has represented Peru at numerous international biennials and triennials. Among other awards, in 2007, he received the Luces Award from El Comercio for the year’s best individual exhibition; and in 2012, he took home the National Culture Award in the Creativity category. He has curated exhibitions by a range of artists in Iquitos, Lima, and abroad, as well as collective shows, most notably La soga de los muertos: el conocer desconocido de la ayahuasca (The Rope of the Dead: The Unknown Knowledge of Ayahuasca) (2005), Poder verde (Green Power) (2009 – 2011), Recuerdo de Iquitos (Souvenirs from Iquitos) (2011), La noche en blanco (White Night) (2012), and El milagro verde (The Green Miracle) (2013). He was the Director of the National Institute of Culture of Loreto in 2010. He is currently the Artistic Director at the Lima International Art Fair.
