Daniel Mullen

BIOGRAPHY

(b. 1985, Glasgow, Scotland) Mullen is a Rotterdam-based artist whose work challenges our perception of light, darkness, form and colour. He navigates the current era of mass digitalisation by creating intricate compositions which, from afar, appear as if digitally created. Nevertheless, when looked up close, the viewer is encountered with the real materiality of the art piece: a time-consuming craftsmanship of (mostly) acrylic paint over linen. The artist has exhibited in many galleries worldwide, some of his most recent shows include: “In(Visible) Within”, a solo show at Zipper Galería, São Paulo (2022); “Ephemeral Fields”, also a solo show, at Kogan Amaro gallery, Zürich (2019) and “In a Real of Luminescence” at Elan Fine Art, Vancouver, Canada (2019).
